The past few weeks have been filled with a flurry of activity! The Morton Family enjoyed a few occasions to gather together: family reunion at a local park, Phil’s 61st birthday, and our great-nephew’s first birthday celebration. We also experienced an overwhelming weather situation last week when we ended up with damage from about 12 inches of water in the basement and a tree down in the back yard. Side note – While we are saddened by the loss of many tangible memories, we are immensely grateful for all the help from so many in cleaning up the mess.
In addition to these events, many important decisions were made too.
Because of brain issues, Phil and I considered decision-making will become more difficult as time elapses. A few weeks ago, we met with our attorney to complete important documents – the Last Will & Testament for each of us, Powers of Attorney (medical and financial), and both of our living wills. We also made pre-arrangements with Wyer’s Funeral Home. Believe it or not, the total estimated cost is less than the life insurance Phil carries; we are blessed.
We took a drive through Ridge Hill Memorial Park to look at burial plots; we found a beautiful location near a little pond with three pillar fountains rippling water into it. For those of you who live locally, it’s in Section X. One of the cool things about this site is the water is Phil’s favorite color, green – I’m guessing there’s some kind of dye to make the water such a pretty hue. We both agreed that the particular location was peaceful and soothing as the sound from the rippling water pouring from the fountains drowns out traffic noise and such.
Post Hope allows up to four photos per journal entry. The first one I chose is of the five Morton siblings hanging out together at the family reunion. The second photo is a picture of Phil and me at his birthday gathering. The third one is of his sister praying with him – and no, he wasn’t playing on his phone (he was holding his phone while agreeing in prayer with his sister). And the last photo is of the beautiful rippling green water at the base of the pond.
Thank you for your continued prayers and emotional support through this journey. We appreciate each and every one of you.
